Some Important Things They Taught Us!

If our clothing catches on fire: STOP, DROP, AND ROLL!

  1. Don't Panic!
  2. Get out of the house, following your pre-planned escape route, if possible.
  3. Feel doors with the back of you hand to feel if they are hot. If they are hot do not open them.
  4. Crawl low near the floor -- smoke and hot gases rise.
  5. Meet at your pre-established meeting place after leaving your home.
  6. Call the fire department from outside the building.
  7. Never re-enter a burning building.

Install smoke detectors in every room and check the batteries often and regularly.

Chief Mike and Fireman Bruce and a few friends visited us to show the children their fire truck and teach us about fire safety.

They wanted us to know what a fireman looked like when they are fighting a fire. Why you may ask? When a fireman is ready to fight a fire they are wearing a lot of equipment. Here is what Fireman Bruce looks like when he is wearing his equipment.

Pictures of the children, the truck, the fireman, and the teachers
